MEETING TIME: 1:00 pm/ DATES: April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13, November 17, and December 8.

MEAL: Roasted turkey w/gravy or loaded baked potato soup, cornbread stuffing, peas & carrots, and fruit cocktail

WELLNESS - Dorothy Armster and Shirley Wagner. Keep thinking of them and praying for their well-being.

 

MEMBERSHIP TOTAL - 44 Members. We welcome new member Cayla Sondergard (wife of Ronald Sondergard).

FINANCIAL REPORT - Treasurer Roger Thull briefed the monthly Treasurer report for March 10 2023, one expense, and one deposit with an ending checking account balance of $3479.54. 

 

MARCH MEETING TIDBITS - Roger Thull won the attendance drawing $20 gift card. Guest Speaker Wade Waddel from Salina (Active-Duty MSGT USAF), with a retirement date in June 2023. W. Waddel spoke about the community activities he is involved in, e.g., collecting empty cans for the KS Honor Flight to raise money. He explained the Air Force internship program available for retirees. And his experiences in the Air Force as a Security Forces specialist and plans when he retires. The membership discussed the plans (drawing for a 55-inch TV and tasks we must accomplish) for the June 14 free Hot Dog lunch for the Salina community.

8 SPECIAL BENEFITS MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS GET - While earning the Medal of Honor requires the risk of life above, and beyond the call of duty, U.S. law affords special privileges to these honored few. They receive a Monthly Pension and Special Retirement Pay, Uniform Allowances, On Base/Post Parking Spots, Priority Space-A Travel, Invitations to Presidential Inaugurals, Academy Appointments for Dependents, A Medal of Honor Flag, and Full Military Burial Honors. Until 2020, the provision for interment at Arlington did not include enlisted recipients of the medal. Under the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act, all Medal of Honor recipients are now eligible for burial with full military honors. (Source Military.com)

 

AGENT ORANGE -  The VA has added two new Agent Orange conditions based on the PACT Act: high blood pressure (hypertension) and monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). Also added were five new Agent Orange presumptive locations. Please visit /www.va.gov/resources/the-pact-act-and-your-VA-benefits on the locations and dates or contact a KS Veterans Services Representative nearest you (salina 785-823-2862).
